The River//Cities Platform foundation has been formally established in October 2010 in Warsaw under the Polish law, to give greater strength and articulation to the activities of the River//Cities platform, active since 2006. The goal is to bring together various subjects, in their respective cities, promoting cultural initiatives aimed at building a relationship with the waterfront through culture and exploit the potential of the river as a public space. This is a multi-disciplinary and transnational network that already counts on the accession of 39 different cultural institutions (June 2011), who are committed to each other on the basis of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Learn from each other, build alliances to influence local policies, develop joint projects are some of the main goals of the Foundation. The statute determines the life of the Foundation, while the Agreement governs the rules between partners of the Council.

The aim of the River//Cities Platform Foundation is to increase the impact of culture on the sustainable development of urban waterfronts for the benefit of their citizens.
The main objectives of the Foundation are:
- to increase cultural activity in urban waterfront areas,
- to encourage policy change and increase investment in cultural initiatives,
- to generate cross-disciplinary collaborations
- to create capacity-building opportunities

The sito of River//Cities (www.river-cities.net) collects the latest information on the upgrading of water and river fronts, mostly in Europe, and provides pictures and videos on the theme of the cultural promotion of the river in different urban realities.
